From: danny@cs.usyd.edu.au (Danny Yee) To: List:; Date: Fri, 20 Nov 1998 15:43:30 +1000 Subject: Postcard from India (20th Nov) For those of you missed my last message (I used an old postcard list with outdated addresses), I'm in Pune India and having a great time. I'll put these electronic postcards at http://www.anatomy.usyd.edu.au/travel/1998/clp/ If you want to send me mail, it's probably best to send it to caaclp8@hotmail.com, which is a group account that will get checked more often. (Also, telnet may be less reliably available than web access.) We spent the weekend at Eildon, east of Melbourne, as a "get to know one another" and an introduction to community development. Monday and part of Tuesday was spent travelling - bus from Eildon to Melbourne airport, wait there, plane to Singapore, four hours or more there, plane to Bangalore, brief stop there, plane to Mumbai, wait for everyone else to get through baggage/customs (I'm carrying just 6kg, all as hand luggage), then a six hour bus trip to Pune. Wednesday and Thursday were spent in lectures/briefings on India (most this I was familiar with already) and the projects we are visiting. Today we split into groups of four to visit rural projects. I'm travelling south to Miraj, an 8 hour train trip. Most of the groups have left already, but mine doesn't go till 1.30pm, which is why I have some time to type at you again. Danny.
