Personal Information

I was born and lived most of my life in Sydney, Australia, but am now living in Oxford, in the United Kingdom. I am Eurasian by descent (my father's parents were Cantonese-speaking Chinese from Guangzhou, my mother was born in Germany), but was socialised as 'Australian' (whatever that means) and might even qualify as 'Jewish' (my mother's mother's mother was a Polish Jew). I have a small part of my family tree online.

I have a half-time day job as a sysadmin with the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages, and also work as an independent book reviewer and a sustainable transport activist.

Hobbies include bushwalking and travel, playing gamelan, going out to concerts and plays, playing games, and spending time with interesting people.
